Level 1 PCB Repair Technician

Summary/Objective

  • Troubleshoot down to component level on products and printed circuit board assemblies using electronic knowledge, theory and applicable documentation
  • Repairs PCB product to operating specification

Job Duties

  • Perform complex circuit analysis, troubleshooting and repair of completed PCBs
  • Replace and/or repair faulty components using solder techniques including but not limited to through-hole, surface mount, and high temperature soldering
  • Tests products and sub-assemblie
  • Ensures products conform to documentation
  • Completes appropriate test paperwork and defect reports
  • Configures software for test equipment and products to standards and specifications
  • Builds sub-assemblies and final assemblies to standards and specifications
  • Assembles products according to documentation
  • Ensures correct parts are being used and the product is built to specifications
  • Completes final quality control inspection
  • Identify unacceptable parts
  • Maintains a clean, organized and safe work environment
  • Organizes work area so that another person is able to locate information easily
  • Adheres to safety standards at all times
  • Ensures that safe methods and practices are used
  • Wears personal protective equipment when required
  • If applicable, assists project management with design of custom product
  • Reviews assembly drawing, wiring diagrams, schematics, and parts list to identify and inform project management of needed changes

Skills and Qualifications

  • 0 to 2 years experience of troubleshooting PCB and its components
  • Able to perform through hole technology and surface mount technology soldering
  • Able to read and interpret schematics/block diagrams with detailed understanding of computer and subassembly functionality
  • Familiar with computer software and operating systems and possess the ability to identify and perform software updates (OS,BIOS, Drivers, Firmware)
  • Ability to use electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, multi-meters, power supplies, etc.)
  • Knowledge of computer and electronic systems, with experience in printed circuit board (PCB) assembly process and techniques
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic English skills to understand quality, safety, work instructions, personnel information, etc
  • Must have legal status to work in the USA

Required Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in electronics or equivalent work experience

  • Perform failure analysis for ongoing product (PCB) improvement
  • Create schematics, wiring diagrams, and other supporting documentation
  • Provide actionable information that drives change and improves quality
  • Proficiency in:
    • Cross sectioning of printed circuit boards (PCB’s)
    • Optical inspection of components and PCB’s
    • Dye and pry to evaluate integrity of solder joints
    • Real time X-raying of assemblies, components, etc
    • Use of thermal chambers for running specialized tests
    • Soldering: through hole technology and surface mount technology
    • Read and interpret schematics/block diagrams with detailed understanding of computer and subassembly functionality
    • Computer software and operating systems and possess the ability to identify and perform software updates (OS,BIOS, Drivers, Firmware)

BGA Operator

Summary/Objective

  • Perform BGA replacement on PCB

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the rework of BGA on various types of PCBA using hand-held soldering stations and BGA machine
  • Responsible for pad and trace repair
  • Ability to operate XRAY machine to review BGA
  • Any other duties assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience in removal / placement of BGA
  • Be able to identify components types and polarities
  • Be able to read and understand components values
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision, make sound judgment, and pay close attention to details.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with engineering, production, and quality.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic English skills to understand quality, safety, work instructions, personnel information, etc
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the USA

Required Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Currently certified in IPC 610 preferred
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the USA
